About Acupuncture and Treatment of Eye Diseases

Many vision conditions respond to treatment with acupuncture. Treatment is focused on identifying the root case affecting your vision and improving these underlying conditions. The goal is to improve vision, slow the progress of your condition, and maintain eye health. Acupuncture can treat many eye diseases, including but not limited to:

  • Age-Related Macular Degeneration
  • Retinitis Pigmentosa
  • Glaucoma
  • Stargardt’s Disease
  • Diabetic Retinopathy

About Acunova Acupuncture Treatments

Acunova, invented by John Boel, is a type of acupuncture treatment that is showing remarkable results for people with eye diseases. For the thousands of patients with eye diseases who have received this form of acupuncture treatment, 70-83% respond to treatment, depending on the type of eye disease.

This intensive treatment involves eye acupuncture points in the hands and feet that are not associated with any other acupuncture system. Two points also used are located in the eyebrows and studies show that these points increase blood circulation to the retina in the eye.

What to Expect with Eye Acupuncture?

The Acunova program involves a minimum of 10 days of treatments over a two-week period. Each treatment lasts about one hour. Herbs and supplements, along with a recommended diet and exercise regimen, may be included as part of your treatment.

A vision test is performed at the beginning of treatment to assess your current vision. At least two treatments are performed per day for 10 days. Once the first round of treatments has been completed, another vision test is done and the two tests are compared.

By comparing the two tests, it is determined if you are a responder or a non-responder.

While there is no guarantee of how much improvement can be realized, many patients worldwide have tried Acunova eye acupuncture and have been helped.

Once the initial course of treatment has been completed and we have recovered as much lost vision as possible, our focus turns towards retaining the gains we have made through maintenance treatments. Degenerative conditions require ongoing maintenance and will only get worse if neglected. The frequency of these maintenance visits vary depending upon the patient’s specific health conditions. Most patients return for treatments more frequently during the first year, then continue with maintenance treatments.

Healthy Eyes

Since my Acunova eye acupuncture treatment for macular degeneration-drusen, my retinal images over the last two years show no drusen whatsoever. In fact, my prescription has remained the same. I just wanted to let you know how thankful I am for everything. Thank you!
